Sauvignon Blanc
The Grape
Sauvignon Blanc is a white wine grape found throughout Western France that is now successfully grown in emerging and established winemaking regions all over the world. Sauvignon Blanc expresses itself best when grown in a moderate climate. Its vines develop buds late and its berries ripen early.
The Wines
The beauty of a Sauvignon Blanc is that it’s a straight forward wine with elegant flavours that are rarely hidden. The types of flavours will vary depending on how ripe the grapes were when the wine was made. Aromas and flavours can range from herbaceous notes, green peppers and asparagus to more obscure notes such as minerals and flint. Most Sauvignon Blanc wines are made completely dry.
The Occasions
If you want to try your hand with adventurous food, especially seafood, Sauvignon Blanc is the perfect pair. If you’re in the mood for fresh oysters on the half shell, smoked eel or fragrant Thai fishcakes, then Sauvignon Blanc will be your best friend.
